What I am currenlty working on
I am working on FDB Document Layer which is a document data store (NoSQL) built on FoundationDB. While fdb manages the complexities of a distributed system the document layer manages sharding, indexing, chunking, and query planning. It's similar to Apple's Record Layer.
What's up with the website?
I am sick and tired of purple gradients, unnecessary bloat, and endless JavaScript frameworks. Why do I have to go through a dozen pages to get some basic information. This website is a single index.html file and I am happy with it.
Things I find interesting:
- Consensus algorithms in distributed systems
- The 2008 housing market crisis
- The Bauhaus school and its manifesto
- Essays by Christopher Hitchens
Books I enjoy reading:
- Modern Times, Modern Places - Peter Conrad
- Burmese Days - George Orwell
- Our Man in Havana - Graham Greene
- Modern Times, Modern Places - Peter Conrad
- God Is Not Great - Christopher Hitchens
- A Short History of Nearly Everything - Bill Bryson
- Darkness at Noon - Arthur Koestler
- Knowledge and Decisions - Thomas Sowell
- Letters to a Young Contrarian - Christopher Hitchens
